Oh, what a night!

A few months ago, our friend Andrew asked what our dream was for the Shameless launch party. He was going to help plan it, so he wanted to know what our ideal party would include, in terms of entertainment, decorations, atmosphere, etc. I thought about it for a second and then said, “Y’know, I just want to see a ton of teenage girls sitting on the floor of The 360 reading the magazine. That’s what would make it perfect.” Nicole agreed.

On Saturday night, the venue was packed by 9 p.m. and the floor was covered with girls sitting around reading the magazine (as well as tearing up the dance floor, cheering in front of the venue and performing on stage). Nicole and I both almost cried, it was so amazing. You girls made all the work we’ve been doing worthwhile. We can’t wait to hear from you — about the party, the magazine, and whatever else you want to tell us!

Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, siblings, partners, friends and strangers who came out to support Shameless. The party really was “all ages” and totally diverse.

And thanks, of course, to the radical cheerleaders for their pom-pom-politicking, our comics Mae and Sabrina for hosting, and the DJs for rocking the house. You were all just amazing.

The big launch!

After a year of hard work, Shameless is finally launching. We’d love it if you’d come celebrate with us. Here’s everything you need to know:

SATURDAY, JUNE 5: Shameless celebrates the release of its debut issue at The 360 (326 Queen St. W., Toronto). Teen comedians Mae Martin and Sabrina Jalees will host our all-ages launch party, which features performances by the Squad 416 radical cheerleaders, DJs Tyler Clark Burke and The Abominable Dr. Vibes, dancing, prizes and more. Admission is a mere $5, which includes a copy of the magazine. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the party will be jumping for as long as you are.

We’re also celebrating the launch of our expanded website! We’ve got message boards, tons of info about the mag, links galore, photo galleries, subscription forms and more! Thanks go out to our webmaster Luke and our art director Jason for getting everything up and running just in the nick of time.
