I can’t say it better than my friend at insanecats, who posted today about the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA)’s videos about new safety measures:
Specifically, notice how they have two separate videos for Female business traveler and Male business traveler. You may wonder how the TSA policies differ for each of these types of travelers. That’s a valid question, astute reader! Let’s watch the two videos and find out:
Female Business Traveler (wmv, 3Mb)
Male Business Traveler (wmv, 3Mb)Go on. Click those two links and watch the videos. I can wait.
Okay, so what’s the difference? The female business traveler takes her toiletries out from her purse and puts it into a bin. The male business traveler removes his “liquids” from his “carry-on bag”…. and then they explain to the male business traveler what to do with his laptop! (And, for some reason, his shoes. I don’t know why they think that women don’t wear shoes.)
Awesome. Well done, TSA. Well done.

I like the image of you daffily taking notes with your lipstick...I'm glad that the post you linked to took such a humourous approach to this, otherwise I would've been quietly weeping instead of laughing.

Also, the womens vedio is much more rule-focused, stating the exact weight of the toothpaste etc bag. All part of airports trying to play up tighter security, as if they're really going to stop any would-be plane-jacker. And all one big act if you ask me. A good excuse for a power trip. No wonder our rights get trampled. There's more where this came from. Ask anyone whose been to airport or border lately.
