Click here and say yes in a poll regarding Dr. Henry Morgentaler being awarded the Order of Canada.
From the Globe and Mail:
A group of pro-choice activists has decided that, protocol be damned, they are going public in a last-ditch attempt to have Dr. Henry Morgentaler invested into the Order of Canada.
Morgentaler has been nominated twice already, and passed over both times. He has recently suffered a stroke and his health is failing. The Order of Canada cannot be awarded posthumously.
“It’s blasphemy that this hasn’t happened, a national embarrassment,” said Cathie Colombo, the long-time assistant to Dr. Morgentaler who is leading the charge… “Even if you don’t agree with his views, you can’t deny the impact he’s had on Canadian society.”

Did this poll a few weeks ago, and at that time it was at %16 for and %18 against. Now it's %10/%90. So support for Morgentaler is WANING? wft, as they say. A shame. I saw him on The Hour a while back and nearly cried.

Um, by which I mean 16 for and 84 against. Good at maths, that's me.

Totally makes me sad that 90% of people polled think that's a bad idea.

All it takes is one comment about "adult videos" and we've got these comment posts. Blah.

I was pissed off a week or two ago when I was forwarded a mass email from my own Opa about this poll and how good christians must immediately vote against Morgentaler getting the Order of Canada (I believe the email said "WE MUST STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING!"). I was appalled -the email had gotten to about 200 people before me and when I voted at that time the YES was at 19% so I guess those kinds of mass emails (full of misleading moral righteousness) have been getting around.
The article in the globe says that pro-choicers are going public in their last ditch attempt to get him the order, but aside from this lousy poll what's being done to raise his profile?

Well, it is the Globe and Mail, a very conservative paper. I mean, the only worse showing for Morgentaler might have been if they'd put it on the Toronto Sun website. The proportion of Canadians who support him getting the order of Canada is probably much higher than the proportion of white, conservative, middle/upper class boomers who think so.

Online polls are pretty hard to trust generally because they're so easy to game. I'm not entirely sure why newspapers bother with them at all.
