Shameless is hiring!

Shameless magazine, Canada’s independent, feminist voice for young women and trans youth, is hiring a for multiple roles both in and outside of the GTA. Are you devoted to grassroots publishing? Do you have a commitment to anti-oppression and inclusive feminist politics? Do you have some time to volunteer and a vision for Shameless? Then we need you.

We are looking for a smart, sassy, shameless people to fill the following roles:

Events co-ordinator

Job description: x2028* Works with shameless staff to take leadership on planning launch parties, fundraisers and other event * Occasionally represents the website and/or the magazine at events such as Canzine and Word on the Street

The ideal candidate will:x2028 * Be located in the GTA * Have an understanding of and commitment to Shameless’s mandate x2028* Have excellent writing and editing skillsx2028* Be super organized and an excellent communicator x2028* Have lots of ideas (contacts with accessible venues, interpreters, food vendors and community groups a plus) * Have an interest in outreach to diverse communities * Be available for regular meetings in Torontox2028 * Work well with a team

We are looking for people who work well collaboratively, who have a good sense of Shameless’s vision, who are committed to anti-racist feminist politics, who have even planning experience, and who are excellent communicators and work well over email (Shameless has no office).

This position is part-time, requiring 5-10 hours per week, depending on the time of year. Most people who work on the magazine do so outside of regular business hours, and meetings will likely be held during evenings and weekends.

Like all roles on this volunteer-run magazine, this position is unpaid. (If you have ideas for how we can change that, then please get in touch!)

Shameless correspondents: We are looking for Shameless correspondents from diverse regions across Canada to record podcasts and roundtables about how issues affect their communities.

Job description:x2028 * Works remotely with editorial team to create local content in diverse communities across Canada * Organizes and records topical podcasts related to issues covered in the magazine and online * Promotes Shameless in your area

The ideal candidate will: x2028* Have an understanding of and commitment to Shameless’s mandate x2028* Have proficient audio recording skills * Be super organized and an excellent communicator * Have strong ties in your community x2028* Work well with a team

We are looking for people who work well collaboratively, who have a good sense of Shameless’s editorial vision, who are committed to anti-racist feminist politics, who have audio recording/editing experience, who are excellent communicators and work well over email (Shameless has no office).

All positions are part-time, remote and requiring 2-5 hours per week, depending on the production cycle of the magazine.

Like all roles on this volunteer-run magazine, this position is unpaid. (If you have ideas for how we can change that, then please get in touch!)
