1930s Futuristic Fashion Predictions
Take a look at this awesome video from the 1930s that shows what “some of the most famous fashion designers” predicted women (and a few men) would be wearing in the year 2000.
Some highlights include:
A designer that “goes so far as to believe that skirts will disappear entirely.” My goodness, could you imagine a woman who wears nothing but pants?!! She might if it’s paired with “an electric belt [that] will adapt the body to climactic changes.”
Don’t go trolling the dark streets looking for a husband without a light strapped to your head, ladies! A girl needs to have “an electric headlight to help her find an honest man.”
And the men? “If he matters at all, there won’t be any shaving, collars, ties, or pockets.” (Why not?) But no worries, “he’ll be fitted with a telephone, radio, and containers for coins, keys, and candy for cuties.” Well, thank goodness for that!
