Behind the Scenes: New Site

March 5th, 2014     by Sheila Sampath     Comments

Welcome to the new! The site’s been months in the works and is the product of a wonderful collaboration between team Shameless, The Public and Amphibian. We couldn’t be happier!

The launch of our new site comes just in time for our tenth anniversary (tenth!); and the process of putting it together brought a wonderful opportunity for reflection. Ten years (ten years!) is a long time, and when I stop to think about how absolutely radical it is: to exist, to take up space on the shelf, on the internet, and to do all of this on 100% volunteer-run power, in ways that build community, love and friendship… I feel so utterly grateful to be a part of this project. None of this would be possible without our amazing Shameless staff, who work tirelessly on top of school and work, without our extended family of writers and artists, and without our engaged and devoted readership (that’s you, right?).

We have an exciting year ahead, full of events, amazing content (both in-print and on-line), popular education and a 10th anniversary fundraising campaign designed to help make our work more sustainable. With that, I leave you to explore the new site, and, while you’re at it, please consider subscribing to the magazine, supporting our work through the Hall of Shameless, and joining our crew.
