Masala Militia is hosting our first zine launch and 1 year anniversary party fundraiser!

Our venue is O’Grady’s bar and restaurant, on the corner of Church and Wellesley Street East. The entire 2nd floor is booked for our event only!

This is chance for us to meet offline, share art and ideas, and celebrate Masala Militia for all its wonderfulness!

We’ll be featuring readings from zine contributors from both zines (zine 1 - “brown identity” / zine 2 - “brown” women’s experiences in academia).

We’ll also be selling copies of both our zines at the event! (prices to be posted soon) The first zine can be viewed online here: http://issuu.com/incendiespublication/docs/masalazine1

As well, there will be performances from dedicated Masala Militia peeps, including:

Aaliya Zainab Jasleen Tanesha Donna Rezwana Nish Ishrani

Attendees can pay $10 cover and get copies of both zines, $5 for cover and receive copies of 1 zine (of their choice) or PWYC.

For food and drink, attendees have the option of purchasing a wide array of snack foods catered by the organizers or ordering food and drinks from O’Grady’s themselves.

Looking forward to meeting you and making some masala magic happen!

Please RSVP by selecting “Join”, and definitely invite your friends and colleagues who’d be interested!

If you have any questions, send us a message: masalamilitia@gmail.com.

Unfortunately, due to the volunteer-run structure of the group and our relative newness, we are currently not able to provide childcare, ASL interpretation services nor provide an accessible venue. However, we expect to be able to provide these services in the near future. We ask that this event be scent-free ~ for more info check this out: http://www.brownstargirl.org/1/post/2012/03/fragrance-free-femme-of-colour-realness-draft-15.html
