Ideas for a Living City - Student Shorts Competition on the TTC

Submission DEADLINE: MAY 15 2008

If you are a post-secondary student, or have just graduated, you can show your short film on the TTC this July - to over a million people a day.

We are looking for silent 1-minute shorts that take a creative peak at a greener future for the city. Ideas for a Living City challenges post-secondary students to take an imaginative leap forward and show us what it might be like to live in an ecologically sustainable metropolis.

Solar powered buildings, hydrogen powered cars, urban forests, market gardens, reclaiming rivers and ravines, the city as a living ecosystem: you don’t have to be a scientist or a specialist to imagine the possibilities. Show us your green visions, hopes and dreams for a better future. Have fun, be bold, go crazy - for 60 seconds.

This juried competition is open to all genres of film, video and animation. The best 2 shorts, as judged by Art for Commuters, will be awarded prizes.

Prizes for July 2008 Competition: 1st Prize: 2 first class tickets on VIA Rail anywhere in Ontario or Quebec ($850 value); 2nd Prize: a $300 VIA Rail gift certificate to be used on any booking within Canada

Ideas for a Living City screens every 10 minutes all day long, throughout the months of July and February, on the Onestop Network of TTC screens.

Specs for films: 60 seconds (exactly), no audio (silent), 30 fps, 720x480.
