Issue 2 launch!

September 22nd, 2004     by Melinda Mattos     Comments

Shameless Issue 2 is launching this Sunday at Word On The Street, Toronto’s book and magazine festival.

WHEN: Sunday, Sept. 26, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

WHERE: Queen’s Park, behind the legislature building. Look for our booth in the magazine section, near the east end of the park.

WHY: We’re celebrating the launch of our second issue! Come say hello and pick up a copy of Issue 2. We’ll also be selling subscriptions, our famous one-inch buttons and Good Grooming For Girls, our new star-studded girl band/singer CD compilation.

WHY ELSE: Shameless Co-Editors & Co-Publishers Melinda and Nicole, plus some other fabulous women, will be taking part in a reading titled Girl Power at 2 p.m. in the Canadian Magazines Tent (Queen’s Park Cres. E., just north of Wellesley St.). Check out the program listing: “A new breed of smart, subversive women is contributing to the Canadian cultural landscape. Hear the latest from cool young writers, including selections from Shameless, a new progressive magazine for teen girls.”

IF YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN’T MAKE IT: Well, you’ll be missing the best literary fest around. But never fear. Issue 2 will be available at bookstores across the country in early October. Or you can order your subscription online, which saves you 25% off the newsstand price.

And what about the CD? You lucky devils, Good Grooming for Girls is available online for $10 (plus $3 shipping), and it’s being sold at Soundscapes (572 College St.) and Rotate This (620 Queen St. W.) in Toronto. The 22-track disc features tracks from Kimya Dawson, Mecca Normal, Arcade Fire, The Blow, Magneta Lane, Jill Barber, Scandalnavia, Republic of Safety, the Sick Lipstick and many, many more. The hand-packaged, limited-edition CD is a fundraiser to help us print the magazine.

That’s all for now. See you on Sunday!

Love,

Team Shameless
