This week we announced the 3rd Annual Shamie Awards! Join us on October 25 th while we give awards to the worst of the worst in problematic media. The event is happening at The Gladstone from 6-9, more details will be announced shortly!

Elizabeth Gilbert, author of, among other things, Eat Pray Love, has announcedshe is partnered with a woman! Her heartfelt post describes the journey her family has been on over the past few months as Gilbert and partner Rayya Elias deal with Elias’ cancer diagnosis and the dissolution of Gilbert’s marriage.

This week news also broke that Baby-Sitters Club creator Ann M. Martin is also queer! What a week for the queers.

Jesse Thompson, a hockey player from Oshawa, filed a complaint which caused the Ontario branch of Hockey Canada to create transgender-inclusive policies, including a new rule stating self-identified trans players can use the dressing room corresponding to their felt gender identity.
