Announcing the Second Annual Shamie Awards Gala!

**Join Shameless for the second annual Shamie Awards! **
Proudly sponsored by Unifor.
The Shamies are awards presented to the worst perpetrators of problematic media - the most sexist, racist, oppressive advertisements. These awards help raise critical awareness of the messages that we find around us, and can inspire us all to renew our commitment to producing and supporting media that advocates, informs and inspires. The evening will be hosted by comedian Jess Beaulieu, and our very own editorial and art director Sheila Sampath.
This year, while we roast the worst of oppressive media, join us as we celebrate the best new writers as we present the prizes for our first annual Talking Back Awards, judged by writers Souvankham Thammavongsa, Anupa Mistry and Emily Pohl-Weary. Top youth writers in fiction, non-fiction and poetry will read from their award-winning work.
Come enjoy excellent music (featuring DJ Betti Forde!), food and drinks (with thanks to the Afghan Women’s Catering Group and Black Oak Beer), and help support our volunteer-run magazine for teen girls and trans* youth. Cash bar.
